2009 Skyline Steel Lecture Series
2009 Skyline Steel Lecture Series
On April 24th, Skyline Steel kicked-off its 2009 Marine Lecture Series “Innovative Steel Applications for 21st Century Marine Structures” at the Grand Hyatt New York in New York City. The energetic atmosphere and warm weather helped set a positive tone for the morning. As guests arrived to the lecture they were greeted with an array of familiar faces and an eagerly awaiting Skyline Steel staff.

Mr. Gerry McShane, Vice President of Engineering at Skyline Steel, leadoff the lecture to a packed house, which included engineers, contractors, designers, consultants, project managers, superintendents, and other esteemed industry professionals from over 50 companies. Participants added their invaluable expertise throughout the day, during the presentations as well as the question and answer session.

Overall participants were pleased with the way the day had gone. One participant noted, “the morning was worth the time investment.” While another mentioned, “I am going to recommend your seminar to other members of our firm.” Conversations in the hallway after the presentations were buzzing with success of the day’s meeting.
Dean Abbondanza of Skyline Steel has been involved in the lecture series since its inception back in December of 2004. Mr. Abbondanza noted that the 2009 NYC Lecture is one of the largest he has been involved with. The lecture program creates an exceptional educational and networking opportunity to individuals in the field. Skyline continually prides itself on being a technical leader in the industry and promoting educational opportunities.

Skyline Steel would like to thank all those who participated and helped to make New York a success. The next lecture of this series will be held on June 19th in Irvine, California. The final lecture for the 2009 series will be on September 18th in Houston, Texas. For more information on any of these events please email ports2009@skylinesteel.com.
