2009 Skyline Steel Lecture Series
Skyline Steel Lecture SeriesOn September 18th, Skyline Steel continued its 2009 Lecture Series entitled “Innovative Steel Applications for 21st Century Marine Structures” at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa, located in beautiful Houston, Texas. This event was very well received among attendees, speakers, and the Skyline Steel staff. The over 60 participants in attendance represented the biggest and best in the region including: Flour; Jacobs; KBR; Fugro-McClelland Marine Geosciences; Port of Houston Authority; CH2M Hill; Halcrow; LAN; and several from Louisiana, including Couvillion Group and Angelette-Picciola, LLC. This powerful and diverse group of attendees has enabled Skyline Steel to reaffirm itself as a leader in the market by providing these engineers and contractors with a solid, value-added information session.

Skyline Steel Lecture SeriesThe participants were enlightened by such great industry speakers as Jerome F. Thibeaux from CH2M Hill, as he presented his Case Study: The Use of Steel Sheet Pile Bulkheads in the Texas Gulf Region presentation; Falko Zück, from ArcelorMittal in Luxembourg, who spoke about The Rescue of Venice: Massive Marine Structures Keeping the Water in Check; Mark Vincent’s presentation on Using Steel to “Save” a Project Twice; Scott McCoy who spoke about Berth Deepening and Upgrades at the Port of New York/New Jersey using Sheet Pile Systems; and Robert F. Stevens’ talk on Offshore Steel Structures and Problems Encountered. Presenting on behalf of Skyline Steel’s were, crowd-pleasers, Gerry McShane, Vice President of Engineering and David Borger, Engineering Supervisor, who spoke on such topics as Material Behavior in Marine Structures and Infrastructure Solutions to Modern Port Problems, respectively.

Skyline Steel Lecture SeriesSkyline Steel was given great acclaim, when one speaker stated, that on major projects, they had the highest regard for Skyline Steel and that they will continue to count on Skyline Steel as a trusted source for steel foundation products and engineering expertise.
