Presentation 1: Changing the Economics of Below Grade Construction The program will cover an innovative way designers are currently using fire-rated steel sheet pile as the permanent foundation structure and earth retention system for below grade parking and basement facilities. The presentation will include a few examples of this design throughout the United States, and discuss some of the reasoning behind the design. It will also examine the various construction methods that are associated with this system and compare them to more traditional methods. Because the intended construction method and the design are so intertwined, this integrative approach allows for efficient utilization of both economy and schedule. Presentation 2: Accelerated Bridge Construction The Accelerated Bridge Construction presentation will focus on the use of driven piles to decrease bridge construction time. The manufacturing of high quality spiralweld pipe, the new H-pile range, and the use of steel sheet piles as permanent structural members will all be discussed.
